Rhode Island Secretary of State Ralph Mollis, along with NiRoPe, Ron, and Pete Cardi joined The Rhode Show to talk about the upcoming voter registration drive being held at Cardi's Furniture in West Warwick this Sunday.
The Rhode Show: Ron, Cardi's has worked with the secretary on this and other events?
Ron Cardi: That’s right, a few years ago, the secretary and his staff setup a voter registration drive at our West Warwick location, and it was a great service for all Rhode Island residents who needed to register, check or change affiliation, see where they needed to go to vote, or just ask questions of the secretary. Our location is easy to get to, right off the highway, we have plenty of space, so it was a natural fit. We've also helped to promote some of the other events that the secretary has done to help businesses access the necessary state agencies so they can thrive and be successful.
The Rhode Show: Secretary Mollis, the voter registration drive at Cardi's is happening on a pretty significant day this year, tell us about the drive and what people can do there.
Secretary Mollis : That’s right. Sunday October 7tjh is the last day people can register to vote. In order to register, you must be at least 18 by Nov. 2, a U.S. citizen and a resident of Rhode Island. The event also makes it easy for voters who have moved or changed their names to re-register as required by state law. In addition to setting up shop at Cardi’s on Saturday, Mollis will open his office at 148 West River St., Providence. Every city and town also made arrangements for residents to register locally. A list of locations is posted on the Secretary’s of State’s website at sos.ri.gov .
The Rhode Show: That’s so great that people can access this service so easily. Pete, before the elections happen, there is a great event happening starting tomorrow night, something spectacular!
Pete Cardi: It’s the Jack-o-Lantern spectacular at the Roger Williams Park Zoo . Thousands of masterfully carved pumpkins, and this year, as you make your way to the trail, you'll be treated to a special edition of the Rhode Show, produced by NiRoPe Studios giving you an in-depth look at how the trail comes together, how the pumpkins are carved, and so much more! Of course we need to thank all the great people here at the Rhode Show, and WPRI for their help in making this all possible, and its all a great way to support the Roger Williams Park Zoo, its an amazing place, go see the pumpkins this year!
The Rhode Show: We cant wait to see the display this year!
