Cardi's and Arpin team up

Cardi’s Furniture and the Arpin Group are teaming up to bring you a great e-waste recycling event to help benefit the Artic Mission in West Warwick.

Angelena Chapman from the Artic Mission, and NiRoPe: Nick, Ron & Pete Cardi joined The Rhode Show to talk about the upcoming event.

The Rhode Show: Tell us about the relationship between Cardi’s Furniture and the Arpin Group.

Nick: Well, we’re both located in Rhode Island, family owned and operated, and we both have a focus on being active in our community. Pretty much the only difference is we move furniture from our warehouse to your house… Arpin; moves it worldwide! In 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, we worked with Arpin to help facilitate an incredible community response and loaded up over 20 of their massive tractor trailers and sent relief supplies directly to the affected areas. One and a half years ago, we partnered up with Arpin and physicians for peace to send health equipment to earthquake ravaged Haiti. They’ve helped Southern New England and us as a whole to make an impact where it’s been needed most.

Angelena; Tell us about the Artic Mission.

Angelena : The Artic Mission is a non-profit, volunteer organization working to improve the quality of life for the under-resourced and homeless of West Warwick. The mission helps clients to overcome addiction, improve general life skills, find employment and housing opportunities, and with the winter fast approaching, they’re gearing up to help out with heating assistance and other important needs in the community!

The Rhode Show: One of the ways that you guys are partnering up is with the e-waste recycling event coming up, Ron, when does that event happen?

Ron: We call it “Waste for Warmth” and it will take place on Saturday 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at our South Attleboro and West Warwick locations. E-waste and shredding will be collected for a reasonable fee, and those items are shipped to companies that strip the items down and recycle and reuse them. All proceeds go to the fuel assistance fund run by the Artic Mission which does a great job servicing our community! As always, all the details are on our website.

The Rhode Show: That’s such a great event, and Pete, there’s many events happening this time of year.

Pete: Fall time in Southern New England always has us busy; walks and runs for aids, Alzheimers, Adoption RI, Childrens Wishes, Ronald McDonald House, but also some other great events like the Jack O Lantern Spectacular at the Roger Williams Park Zoo! All the events are up on our website!
