The 3rd Annual Amazing Wish Race to benefit Children's Wishes of RI , winner of "Best Of Rhode Island” RI Monthly winning event is happening on October 20.
Dana Hrabcsak from Children's Wishes along with NiRoPe, Ron and Pete Cardi and Ben DeCastro of Cardi's Furniture joined The Rhode Show to talk more about it. Ron, I hear you got really involved last year at this event;
Ron Cardi: Last years event was a lot of fun, in fact it won Best Charity Event by the readers f RI Monthly. When participants came to their Challenge at Cardi's, they had some questions they needed answers too, so I was able to help out or at least I think I helped, not sure if those teams won or not, but either way, it's a fun event and were proud to be part of it as it helps to raise funds to grant wishes to kids living with life threatening illnesses.
The Rhode Show: So Ben, what exactly happens during the Amazing Wish Race?
Ben DeCastro: Much like the Amazing Race the viewers at home watch here on WPRI, it's a scavenger hunt throughout the state and teams of four are timed on the challenges we set up. It's a lot of fun. They range from physical challenges, eating challenge, mental challenges so its a fun mix, and you're timed on the challenge itself, not the overall day, so we don't encourage speeding! It's a lot of fun!!
The Rhode Show: Sounds like a great day! So Dana, when is it and how can people sign up?
Dana Hrabcsak: The event is $25 per person, and teams of up to four people can be created. Their registration includes a long-sleeved t-shirt, ticket to the after-party,and prizes for winning teams! Teams can dress in themed costume if they’d like, and all ages are welcome to join. One can register at http://inmotion.awr.dojiggy.com/ , or show up on October 20, and register at the event.
The Rhode Show: Pete, Cardi's gets involved with so many great groups and fun events!
Pete Cardi: It's important to us to be involved in our community! We live here, we work here, so as our parents taught us, it's important for us to do our part and we like to see other local businesses getting involved such as East Commerce Solutions. They've once again stepped up to the challenge and its means a lot to the Children's Wishes and were really proud to partner with them on this event and many others throughout the year.
