It’s officially the first day of summer and NiRoPe, Nick Cardi, Ben DeCastro and Pete Cardi of Cardi's Furniture , along with Joe Rocco of RocJo Productions which produces the Newport Comedy Series, joined The Rhode Show to talk about the great talent coming to the Newport waterfront this summer.
There's actually a new event this summer called Hullabaloo.
"That’s right! Hullabaloo is a new event happening at the Newport Yachting Center this summer for three nights. The first one is next week, June 27, and it’s going to be a fun, family friendly, night with creative art, drum circles, music and performers, food trucks, drinks, it’s a fun time. And it all starts at 5:30 p.m. and the party goes on until sunset! The best part: free admission! So come down with the family to end the day or with your friends before you have a night out in Newport, it’s a great spot, great staff and we’re proud to sponsor Hullabaloo!" said Nick Cardi.
The Tall Ships are another great event, and they're already on their way.
"That’s right, from July 6-9, the Tall Ships will be in Newport and there’s so much to see and do down there, you can go online now and purchase boarding passes so you can actually go on the tall ships, talk with the crew, and see what it takes to live life at sea! Also on the website, you can track where some of the boats are now, and they are making their way here as we speak, they’ve got a few stops to make, but we’ve heard from some of the captains, and it’s going to be a wonderful weekend down in Newport with all the majestic tall ships. And nothing is like standing on the dock or on one of these ships and looking up at the huge sails and rigging!" said Ben DeCastro.
The fun continues all summer long with The Newport Comedy series, and there are some great acts coming this year.
"We've got Joan Rivers, Dennis Miller. Ten shows. Go to newportcomedy.com . Seven of the ten comedians we've never had before and as far as I know, never been to Newport before," said Joe Rocco.
Of course all of these great events is good news for Newport.
"It’s great to have people from here in Rhode Island, as well as visitors from out of state to come down, support the local economy. Visit the great resturaunts like The Mooring, Red Parrot, and our good friends at Sardella’s, and so many more. And we’re proud to work with Gail Alofsin and Michelle Maker and all the crew at the Newport Yachting Center, they put on wonderful concerts and events, head over to our website and see the full line up!" said Pete Cardi.
