PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- There will be something for everyone at this weekend's full lighting of WaterFire in downtown Providence.

"This WaterFire is huge," said Bronwyn Dannenfelser, of WaterFire Providence, during an appearance on The Rhode Show Friday morning.

The WaterFire Clear Currents event is a full lighting that will take place Saturday, Sept. 15.

The event will feature 100 illuminated Japanese koi, temporarily mounted on canoes and kayaks, that registered participants will paddle up and down the river after sunset.

Rally 4 Recovery

In addition, the night celebrates the 10th Annual Rally 4 Recovery.

The annual festival is organized by people in long term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. The family-friendly event starts at 2 p.m. at Roger Williams Park; and features free food and music.

There will then be a luminaria procession, featuring more than 300 candles, from the Roger Williams all the way to Memorial Park.

Jim Gillen, from Rally 4 Recovery, said there will then be a Ring of Fire for Recovery at 8 p.m. at the Basin, featuring 100 torch bearers.

"We love WaterFire," Gillen said. "It gives us the ultimate, feelgood New England Experience."

Kick off of Hispanic Heritage Month, TD Bank Ballroom

Those who like to move and groove may want to head over to the last TD Bank Ballroom of the season.

In celebration of the kick-off to Hispanic Heritage Month, the ballroom will feature Salsa music. There will also be a torch and flag procession.

"Diversity is very true and dear to the heart of TD Bank," said spokeswoman Amy Beauchamp.
