For its fifth full fire, WaterFire Providence has a lot of fun in store for attendants, and some of it is new to the annual event.
Returning for the second time this season is the TD Bank Ballroom, which will offer free dance lessons from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Once the clock strikes 8:00, prepare to dance the night away with the live music of Rumbafrica, a group that shares African culture through both music and dance.
“WaterFire is a wonderful tradition that lights the city and honors cultural diversity, said Mark Crandall, Southern New England Regional President for TD Bank. We are proud to sponsor the TD Bank Ballroom and be a part of this incredible celebration.”
Another returning WaterFire activity is the AT&T Scavenger Hunt, which you can begin at any of the five AT&T clue locations. Only requiring a smart phone or cell phone with texting capabilities, it is a thrilling activity for almost anyone. When finished with the hunt, you will be entered to win a tablet from AT&T, proving that the thrills just keep on coming!
Before the fires are even lit, the exceptional Destiny Africa Children’s Choir will be performing on the Basin Stage from 7:00 to 7:45 p.m. As a new activity at this Saturday’s WaterFire, the group’s songs about faith and life should be an enjoyable listen for all. The group will perform an encore performance at the TD Bank Ballroom at 9:30 p.m.
Throughout the event, WaterFire invites all guests to donate at any of the scattered Ribbons of Light stations. By donating, you will receive a Ribbon of Light to wear and have a chance to win Dunkin Donuts gift cards!
As another sponsor for this Saturday’s WaterFire, Schneider Electric has supported the Providence event for many years, and they too understand its significant purpose within the community.
“Schneider Electric is proud once again to support WaterFire, which is such a cultural staple and an integral Providence experience,” said Laurent Vernerey, Executive Vice-President of Schneider Electric.
The WaterFire is scheduled for this Saturday, July, 21. The fires will be lit at 8:35 p.m., and remain lit until midnight.
