PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Professional cyclists from around the world will be in the capital city this weekend for a unique and grueling event.
The 4th Annual Providence Cyclo-Cross Festival takes place at Roger Williams Park on Oct. 6 and 7.
Cyclo-Cross is a form of bicycle racing that typically takes place in the fall. The course runs about two miles and features wooded trails, grass, pavement, steep hills, and various obstacles requiring the rider to dismount, carry the bike to the next clear area and take off again.
Riders of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to join.
Those looking to participate should register ahead of time. One-day licenses can be purchased at registration for $10 for each day of racing.
This event is also great for spectators, and includes a beer garden, bouncy castle, and much more.
For anyone that wants to catch some of the action but can't make it to the event, the race will also be broadcast live online at CyclingDirt.org.
Following the race, the website will provide interviews, re-caps and highlights.
For more information, visit the Providence Cyclo-Cross Festival website.
