NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) -- Have you ever looked up in the sky and wondered what our little state must look like to a bird?

Bird's Eye View Helicopters gave The Rhode Show a unique tour so we could find out!

Many of us have seen the sights around Newport and Narragansett, but Rhode Show host Will Gilbert was able to see them from up above, and it's truly the only way to see Rhode Island.

Jeff Codman, owner and pilot of Bird's Eye View Helicopters , tells us that he has been flying the friendly skies for a long time.

"I’ve been flying since I was 14," he said. "Started with airplanes, started flying with my father. So I’ve been flying for close to 28 years now."

Jeff took us for a ride we won’t forget.

"Its great just seeing the reactions on their faces," he added. "Even people that have lived here all their lives, they're just amazed at what they see and how beautiful it is."

The views of the ocean and the land are nothing short of breathtaking.

Even after flying for as long as he has Jeff said, "this is really the only way to see Rhode Island. You can't see a lot of the things that we fly over from the ground. Even on the boats they only go in certain parts of the harbor they don't go around the other side of Ocean Drive and Cliff Walk. This is really the only way to see everything."

From the beaches to the lighthouse to the mansions - you see it all.  We we're curious what the number one thing is people want to see.

"People want to see the mansions," said Codman. "Definitely tourists, but even the locals want to see the mansions. That's really top on the list."

Even people who don't like to fly love the views.

"You know a lot of people are a little nervous taking off, but I said once we get up to level off you'll relax, you know?" said Codman.  "Everybody likes it. I mean people who are afraid to fly, and I talk them into going up with me and then they say 'thanks for taking me up, you showed me a good flight and a good time'."

Bird's Eye View offers all different types of tours of Newport and Narragansett.

After flying, you will definitely look at things on the ground a little differently.
