(WPRI) -- The American Idol Live Tour 2012 made it's way to Rhode Island this weekend, and we had a chance to sit down with some of the show's finalists before they hit they stage at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
Fans lined up early outside of the Dunk to catch a glimpse of their favorite Idols.
Rhode Island's own Erika Van Pelt was happy to be home and very excited about performing in front of her family and friends.
“My mother and family have been here since early today," she said. "My mother may have a heart attack she is so happy, and the show is not till 7 tonight."
The top ten contestants are on the 45-city tour.
“The tour is going really well, each day we wake up in a new cities," said finalist Hollie Cavanagh. "Many times I don’t even know where we are going. Every town begins to look the same.”
The instant fame is out of control for some of the performers.
“Fans are able to reach out to us on Twitter and Facebook," added contestant Deandre Brackensick. "We are just shocked that they even know our names."
Idol favorite country singer Skylar Laine is still in shock.
"My favorite part is meeting the fans," she said. "It is exciting for me and it is equally exciting for them. It makes everyone happy."
The tour has ten more cities to hit, and makes it's way to New Jersey next.
