On many hot summer days, sunset is the most beautiful time of the day. The Providence Journal found ways to enjoy this time outdoors in the Ocean State and Alexis Magner visited the set to talk about the fun activities.
“We decided that sunset was kind of a neglected time of the day,” Magner said.
The Providence Journal has covered daytime and nighttime activities in the past, but they wanted to pay homage to the time in between: sunset.
The Towers in Narragansett have dancing every Thursday night. Everything from Cajun two-step, swing, and jazz are offered.
Another family friendly activity is outdoor movies. Every Thursday in Misquamicut there are movies offered on the beach.
Three locations are also mentioned in the article for live music. These include the John Brown House, the Newport Art Museum, and Blithewold.
The article also features five select viewing spots for watching the sunset.
“Each one of them is different. There’s an urban setting, there’s an island setting, a place to watch a beautiful sunset with a cocktail, sunset from a lighthouse, and sunset in a harbor,” Magner said.
Information on all of the sunset activities in Rhode Island can be found in the Thursday, August 9 copy of the Providence Journal.
