PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) -- It's a great outdoor activity that everyone can enjoy, but you might want to brush up on your directional skills before you check out this attraction. Head to Portsmouth and get lost in a corn maze.

Not many people would say their job is their passion, but Louis Escobar is one of them.

"Our farm is a 98 acre farm on Aquidneck Island in the town of Portsmouth where it's not in today's agriculture a big farm but it's a good size farm here in Rhode Island especially in Newport County,” said Escobar, owner and operator of the farm.

Back in the 90s time grew tough for local farmers including Louis.

"In 1998 the price of milk plummeted 28% and I was told over the years you should diversify. When you put in 7 days, 14 hours days, how are you going to diversify?" he said.

The answer was clear.

"A maze to take one of our fields, feed for out cattle and then to put some paths in brought back another generation. My daughter manages it, she does an excellent job. It was a perfect fit,” said Escobar.

But his love for farming comes at a cost. So his unique designs were made to bring in revenue.

"The corn maze is very, very successful. It won't save a bad farmer, but it helps us to pay our taxes and the insurance on our farm,” Escobar added.

Louie's admiration for his farm and love of agri-tainment led to many images over the years.

"Our maze is laid out so perfect with our designer's expertise. It's in two phases. Phase one is short and kind of easy and then phase two has more of a challenge,” said Escobar. "If you walk in and walk right out of my maze I feel like I’ve ripped you off”.

This year it takes on a new form.

"We have the P Bruins as our major logo and then with all the paths that go with it. So we're very happy to promote what we do and to promote local sports,” said Escobar.

Louis had some advice for those looking to take on the challenge.

"Don't get overly frustrated and if you've seen the same path several times take a different turn."

With a new maze The Rhode Show decided to bring in two guys that know the logo better than anyone else: Center, Ryan Spooner, and left wing, Justin Florek, from the Providence Bruins.

They were ready to take on the challenge.

"The best thing to do is go in there and just guess which way and if you get lost you get lost and if you don't that's good too,” said Spooner. Having zero experience, Justin had a plan. "I’m just going to follow Spooner here. He says he knows how to get through it so that's my plan.”

Michaela, Justin, and Ryan all took to the maze and tried their luck. They tried going straight, they tried going left, and they tried going right. If the maze wasn't confusing enough, there were brainteasers along the way.

Escobar's corn maze will is still open through the weekend and they’re offering $2 off all entrance fees.
