We're making Apple Smiles and Spicy Party Mix with with Deana Cimorelli of the Bakery Boutique.

Apple Smiles

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 4-6 macintosh apples (the more red and round the better)

Preparation:

1. Cut apple into eight even slices, leaving the skin on (using an apple cutter will ensure that all of the slices are the same size)

2. Lightly apply a thin coating of peanut butter to one side of each apple slice.

3. Line a row of mini marshmallows on one apple and top with another, using the side with peanut butter on both to adhere the marshmallows

Spicy Party Mix

Ingredients:

  • · 10 cups wheat chex cereal
  • · 2 cups salted peanuts
  • 1-1/2 cups pretzel sticks
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Preparation:

1. In a large bowl, combine the cereal, peanuts, pretzels and sesame seeds. In a large saucepan, combine the remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Pour over the cereal mixture; toss to coat.

2. Spread in a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake at 250° for 10 minutes or until golden brown, stirring once. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
