Providence, RI - Each month, The Rhode Show scours the state for local hotspots based on ones featured in Rhode Island Monthly and November is all about the burger. One restaurant in Central Falls has been serving up patties for generations.
For 80 years Stanley’s has been known for their scrumptious burgers that are made to order. Step back in time with the retro motif, 50s style booths, cartoons along the wall, a counter that seats ten and the menu with all the favorites.
"We use the highest, freshest ingredients, fresh ground meat; we shred our onions daily,” said manager, Louie Augusta.
Choosing just one burger might be tough.
"Burgers range from just a regular Stanley burger which is pickles and grilled onions, we have cheese, bacon, mushrooms, roasted red sweet peppers,” said Augusta.
Their Stanley burger has fresh ground beef, grilled onions, and pickles and is a classic on the menu.
There’s even a variety of fries.
“We have Quebec-style fries: mozzarella cheese and brown gravy; we have cheddar cheese fries: cheddar cheese and bacon bits; we have dirty fries: mix of herbs and spices, a little spicy, lot of garlic; and we have chili cheese fries topped with our homemade chili,” Augusta said.
Folks from all over walk through Stanley’s doors to get their hands on a classic dish.
"A lot of friends, lot of family, and a lot of repeat customers,” said Augusta. “Everybody knows our name, we know their names. We have a lot of people that live in Florida. They come back year after year and come see us.”
Stanley’s is open six days a week and is located on 535 Dexter Street, Central Falls.
In addition to Stanley’s, Rhode Island Monthly features burger joints and restaurants from across the state. Their ‘Ultimate Burger Contest’ ends on Wednesday, November 7.
Submissions can be sent to http://www.rimonthly.com/ and the winner will receive a $250 gift certificate to Garden City, cooking classes at Johnson & Wales University or lunch with Chef Ken Wyatt. Voting will run from November 8-14.
