PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Pizza in Rhode Island is serious business, and with so many choices, how can you choose?
"Bob and Timmy's is an Italian style restaurant focuses primarily on making thin grilled pizza," said Rick Remeika, co-owner of Bob and Timmy's Grilled Pizza.
Bob and Timmy's has years of tradition behind of it.
"We have been in business for twenty one years in Providence and the restaurant here in North Smithfield has been open for a little over two and a half years now," continued Remeika.
Owners Rick Remeika and Jose Sanchez bought the grilled pizza restaurant after working in the business.
"I started as a bus boy in the spring of 2000 and just worked my way up the ranks until we bought the business five years ago," said Remeika.
"The funny thing is I never think that because my dream is cooking. Never thinking so many things that happen to me," said Sanchez.
The pizza is so tasty that GQ Magazine named Bob and Timmy's one of the top five best in the country. They have also made it to national TV and other magazines.
"We appeared on Providence's Man vs. Food when they came to town, we were in September's issues of Rachael Ray. We have been mentioned in Pizza Magazine in the same sentence as Mario Batali," explained Remeika.
Although, the national attention comes with a price; lots of hard work.
"It is very gratifying. We are very gracious, we owe a lot to our staff. We owe a lot to the support of our family. It is really a lot more work than people realize," said Remeika.
Bob and Timmy's has two locations. The original is in Providence, and the newest restaurant in North Smithfield.
