(WPRI) - Erika Van Pelt's American Idol adventure began "where dreams come true", Walt Disney World. And her rich voice wowed the judges.
Being on American Idol has been an amazing ride for the South Kingstown native. She's been a fan of the show since day one.
Fans throughout Rhode Island and the nation rallied behind her and she made it to the top 13.
Although, she won't be the next American Idol, her career may be just beginning.
"Being from Rhode Island and having been born and bred here, knowing how small of a state it is, we’ve got spunk. And people needed to know. American Idol was a great avenue for me to explore that next step in my career. This is the biggest opportunity I’ve ever had," said Erika.
Next up for Erika is the American Idol tour. In the meantime, she plans on resting.
"Once I got eliminated from the show a few weeks ago, I had it in my mind, I’m just gonna go home and relax. It’s the easiest way for me to prepare for the tour. I’ve been a working musician for like 10 years, so that sort of regimented get up and go and do music full time."
