Former Red Sox player Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd joined The Rhode Show to talk about his new book and life in the MLB.
The book called “Call Me Oil Can” is about his rise and fall in the game.
Dennis talked about growing up in Mississippi and his childhood that was mired in poverty and racism, where at a young age he was forced to face alcoholism, murder and deceit.
He says that baseball may have saved his life.
He was able to team up with a young Roger Clemens as part of the stellar Red Sox rotation that made a run to the ill-fated 1986.
Dennis will be signing copies of his book at Barnes & Noble at 1350 Bald Hill Road in Warwick on Saturday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m.
