It's hard to believe but we're actually about to talk about back to school deals. Say it isn't so!
In six weeks most kids wrap up their summer vacation and head back to school. For parents, this means only one thing: back to school shopping.
Problem Solver Susan Hogan joined The Rhode Show to talk about saving a few bucks for this annual event.
With 3 kids yourself...you must be getting to be a pro at this!
"While there seems to be a lot of "back to school" deals, there really aren't, at least not for clothing," said Susan.
Susan said there are actually some things parents should hold off on buying.
"Resist the urge to buy fall clothes. Boots, jackets, jeans, sweaters, things that your kids won't be wearing until late September/October. Remember, it stays pretty warm throughout the first month of school so your kids are perfectly fine to wear their summer clothes."
If you want to give in to your child because they are under the impression they "need" back to school clothes, there are some great summer clothes deals available.
"There are tons of deals of summer clothes going on right now. Things like light-weight sweaters, tees, cami's; clothing you can buy on clearance now and wear year around by layering."
If you're looking to get your student some new technology for back to school like a computer or laptop, Susan found some deals.
"Apple, HP and Dell are all offering cheaper prices for students with their college id's. Right now Apple is offering students back-to-school bonuses like a free X Box from Dell, or $100 toward textbooks and music from Apple."
Deals can also be found right now on school supplies.
"Walmart is launching it's $.88 deals aimed at both teachers and students. CVS has special offers for those customers who have loyalty cards. Staples is offering $.1 notebooks and $.25 pen packs. And watch the weekly circulars for more great deals over the next few weeks."
Besides holding off on buying fall clothes, Susan warned about something else.
"Hold off on tablets. Decide.com says prices will be 10 percent cheaper during the last two weeks of September."
