Members of the Rhode Island Boy Scouts joined the Rhode Show to talk about the 25th Annual Scouting for Food Drive.
The Scouting for Food Drive is a long standing tradition for the Narragansett Council Boy Scouts of America and is also the largest food drive in the New England region.
Since 1988 the Rhode Island Boy Scouts have collected more than 7.8 million pounds of food for those less fortunate.
The Scouts want to emphasize the importance of this drive. By collecting food, it not only helps those in need but it sets a good example for the rest of the community.
The Boy Scouts are looking for non-perishable food goods for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. This weekend they will be back collecting those bags starting at 9 a.m.
Thousands of Scouts have passed out bags in the past few weeks and all hope to be filled when they return.
Donors are encouraged to fill their bags with the Food Bank’s most needed items:
If the Scouts are unable to cover your neighborhood, please visit your local Walgreens store to drop off your donation between November 3 and November 17.
For more information on how to donate, visit the Rhode Island Food Bank website.
