EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - This week on the first half of Newsmakers: Ian Prior, the campaign manager for the Brendan Doherty for Congress campaign. Peeling back the curtain on one of the state’s hottest races. Prior talks about the impact the presidential race has had on Rhode Island’s 1st District and refutes a recent TV ad put out by incumbent Congressman David Cicilline. (Cicilline's campaign manager declined WPRI's invitation to appear on the program.)
On the second half, candidate for state representative Carlos Tobon joins the program to discuss a lawsuit being filed on his behalf against the state Board of Elections after he lost the House District 58 Democratic primary by a single vote. Tobon is asking for the ballots to be manually recounted and expresses a lack of faith about the elections process as a whole.
