EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - This week on the first half of Newsmakers: Teny Gross from the Institute for the Study and Practice of Non-Violence. After a violent weekend in Providence, including the shooting death of a 14 year-old boy in the doorway of his own home, Gross talks about how to stem anger before there is more bloodshed. He says more money is needed to increase police patrols and for organization like his to make a difference in the streets.
On the second half: Republican for Senate Barry Hinckley. The little-known entrepreneur is taking on Senator Sheldon Whitehouse in 2012. To do so he will have to go up against a large warchest and a bigger name. But Hinckley says his business acumen will help market himself to the people. He also goes in-depth on his views of the broken tax system.
