EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - This weeks on the first half of Newsmakers: candidate for mayor of Central Falls Joseph Moran. The former police chief has an uphill battle after finishing a distant second in the primary to City Councilman James Diossa, but the "Moran" name is big in the little city. Moran appeared on Newsmakers alone after Diossa turned down WPRI 12's request for a debate. Moran worked for former Mayor Charles Moreau who is set to be sentenced on federal public corruption charges. The longtime Central Falls resident acknowledged those ties have been a political liability but pointed out he was an independent leader of the police department. The election will be held Dec. 11.

Then on the second half, editor of RIFuture.org , Bob Plain, decided to spend 48 hours on the streets homeless over Thanksgiving. He shares his stories from his series "Homeless like Me" and discusses the Rhode Island Holiday Tree controversy.
