Newsmakers 11/18: What went wrong on Election Day?

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. ( WPRI) -- This week on Newsmakers: an Election Day post mortem looking at voting problems and how to improve the election process in Rhode Island.

Robert Kando, executive director of the R.I. Board of Elections, acknowledges he wasn't satisfied with how the 2012 election was administered, noting problems with incorrect ballots being delivered to polling places and major problems at a number of polling locations, including the Juanita Sanchez polling place in Providence. He says the state needs to buy new voting machines.

John Marion, executive director of Common Cause Rhode Island, credits Kando for acknowledging the problems and offers his own concerns and proposals. Marion also discusses his group's plans for the 2013 legislative session on Smith Hill after Democrats' big victories in state legislative elections last week.
