EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - This week on Newsmakers: General Treasurer Gina Raimondo.
With the state's landmark pension reform legislation passing its first major hurdle this week, the bill moves from the House and Senate finance committees to the full General Assembly for consideration. Despite some changes to her original bill - which she put forward with Gov. Lincoln Chafee - Raimondo says she will back the current legislation as written, but she warns against any further changes as it makes its way through the legislature. Raimondo also talks about what cities and towns need to do to get their troubled, independently managed pension plans on firmer fiscal footing.
