EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A survey released by Brown University indicates just 25 percent of Providence residents feel the city is heading in the right direction, and 40 percent think Providence Mayor David Cicilline is doing a good job.

That's down from 62 percent in 2006. But cities are the end-of-the-line when financial times are tough and the people of Providence are feeling it with more than 15 percent out of work.

Indicators show things might be turning around elsewhere in the country. How can the capitol city ensure it isn't left behind?

Our guest this week on Newsmakers is Providence Mayor David Cicilline. On the panel are Eyewitness News Analyst Arlene Violet and political reporter for WRNI, Rhode Island public radio, Ian Donnis.
