EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - This week on the first half of Newsmakers: Central Falls Mayor James Diossa. At just 27 years-old Diossa was elected as chief executive of Central Falls in a special election to replace disgraced Mayor Charles Moreau. Despite having to face another election in just nine months, Diossa said he is focused on leading the city and getting his government out of state-monitored receivership.

Then Moderate Party founder Ken Block reveals his research for the first time into the controversial straight ticket voting tool known as the master lever. He said after examining thousands of ballots his research shows voters have a fundamental misunderstanding on what straight ticket voting is. He has launched an initiative to ban the political tradition.
