WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) - A brand new colonial home now sits in Woonsocket, but what makes
it unique is its green qualities, and the students who built it
from the ground up.
The new Front Street house is ultra-green, with an estimated heat and electricity cost of only 700 dollars a year. Students from the Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center built the home from scratch, while learning environmentally friendly techniques.
The house is now the first in Rhode Island to be certified by Earth Advantage, a third party testing program designed to promote energy efficiency.
Reporter Pete Mangione has this week's Green Team report.
