WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - Thursday's testimony in the wrongful death suit filed by actor James Woods began with testimony from the head Emergency Room doctor at Kent Hospital.

Woods is suing Kent Hospital for negligence. His brother Michael died of heart failure in July of 2006 after going to the hospital's emergency room.

Eyewitness News noted several prickly exchanges between Wood's attorney and Doctor John McCue. McCue emphasized Thursday that  Michael Woods complained of a sore throat. He said he examined his throat and said it was not inflamed.

"He was sent to express complaining of a sore throat. Did I try to reconcile that? I tried to get to what he was complaining about but he seemed very anxious about complaining about a sore throat," said Dr. McCue.

Lawyers for Kent Hospital allege Woods denied any neck pain when he was in the emergency room.

The trial is expected to last three to four weeks.
