Suspect charged with Taunton murder

Local man, 21, held without bail in beating death

TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) - A suspect arrested and charged in the murder of a Taunton man was ordered held without bail Monday after facing a judge in Taunton District Court .

According to Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, Aaron Morin, 26 of 125 South Main Street, Assonet, has been charged with the November 3rd murder of Chad Fleming .

The staff of Morton Hospital called police that night after someone dropped off Fleming's body at the hosptial. Doctors said Fleming was dead on arrival.

Investigators said that Fleming, 31, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., had been beaten to death.

Police and the District Attorney's Office consider the case active and said Morin will be back in court for a pretrial hearing on December 8.

Meantime, Nelson Melo, 32, of 584 Bay Street, Taunton, was charged with witness intimidation in connection with Fleming's murder. He is being held on $50,000 cash bail.
