City instates furloughs days to save

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - In preparation of cuts in state aid, city workers in Warwick will take four unpaid furlough days in order save money.

Management and union municipal workers have all agreed to the furlough days, the first beginning on Friday, March 19.

Warwick is facing a proposed $3.3 million dollar cut in state aid.

The following offices will be closed March 19, April 9, April 30 and May 14:

• All City Hall Offices
• All City Hall Annex Offices
• Police Department administration offices, except Prosecution, Dispatch and Garage
• Fire Department administration offices, except Fire Alarm
• Warwick Sewer Authority administration offices
• Pilgrim Senior Center
• Buttonwoods Community Center
• Parks and Recreation administration offices and McDermott and therapeutic pool
• Water Division
• Public Works, all offices except Sanitation/Recycling (see below)
• The Warwick Public Library (Open on May 14)

Offices open during furlough days:

• Warburton and Thayer ice rinks
• Animal Shelter
• Animal Control

Residents are advised that that trash and recycling collection will take place as usual on all furlough days.
