NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) - A civilian contractor at the Newport Naval Station was sentenced Thursday to two and a half years in prison for possession of child pornography.
Jacob Cross, 33, pleaded guilty in January to charges he had the pornography on a computer inside the Newport Naval Station dorms.
After his two-and-a-half-year sentence, Cross will remain on supervised release and will be prohibited from accessing the Internet without permission from a probation officer.
He also won't be allowed to be in the presence of children without adult supervision.
