PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A supervisor with the Providence Sewer Department is being reprimanded as the fallout continues from the Target 12 Investigator's exclusive "Down the Drain."
According to Karen Southern, Mayor David Cicilline's spokeswoman, Algot Abrahamson has been suspended without pay.
Target 12 cameras were rolling when Abrahamson took a city truck to a social club on the clock; a building that's been raided several times for illegal gambling. He had been disciplined in the past for bringing a city truck to the social club and was told not to do it again.
Abrahamson claimed he went to the club to buy coffee cups. However, when he left the building, he had no cups in his hands.
Two other workers with the Sewer Department were already suspended without pay; also the result of "Down the Drain." Those workers were caught on camera running personal errands in city trucks, and using city equipment and materials for personal use.
Mayor Cicilline has asked Providence police to investigate the findings of the Target 12 investigation and look into the possibility of criminal charges.
According to police, a prosecutor from the Attorney General's office has been assigned to the case.
