SWANSEA, Mass. (WPRI) - A teenager was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon he was struck by a car then run over by a bus in Swansea.

It happened shortly before 3 p.m. on Bark St., right near the Somerset/Swansea line. According to authorities, the 15 year-old was riding a bicycle and wearing headphones when he was hit.

Eyewitness reported that the boy flew over the hood of the 1999 gold Buick sedan, hitting the windshield.

"There was just blood everywhere. It was not a pretty sight," said an eyewitness.

A deputy chief on scene said a bus traveling north on Bark St. then ran over the teenager's legs. An eyewitness on scene said the victim darted into the road in front of the car.

"I saw this kid come down Hinsdale on his bike, and from what I saw, he was coming across and didn't look both ways and the car, she hit him. He flipped off his bike," said Matthew Sousa.

Emergency crews took the boy to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence. Authorities said the injuries appear to be serious.

The driver of the car, Grace Santos was also rushed to the hospital. Officials said she was mostly shaken up.

Police said Tuesday night the incident appeared to be a tragic accident.
