2 arrested in dollar store robbery

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) - Pawtucket police have arrested two people in connection to a robbery at the Family Dollar Store on Broadway.

James Whitfield, 18 of Pawtucket was arrested by police on March 4th, after authorities tracked the vehicle he was driving, to the crime. Officials also arrested juvenile suspect.

According to police, back on February 26, two masked robbers, one armed with a shotgun, entered the Family Dollar Store at 502 Broadway. The suspects robbed the store clerk and fled the scene with cash.

Surveillance video aided police in their search for the suspects. Whitfield is charged with first degree robbery and is being held at the Adult Correctional Institution, pending a violation hearing.

The unnamed juvenile is charged with first degree robbery, and use of a firearm while committing a crime of violence.

The juvenile is being held at the Juvenile Detention Facilty pending a hearing.
