CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) - Students at Central Falls High School held a silent protest on Tuesday night.
Students wanted to hold the protest to bring light to how the recent teacher controversy has affected them. High school students have said they are feeling the affects from the tense environment at the school.
At the protest, which will be on the front steps of the high school, students held candles in honor of the fired teachers
Superintendent Frances Gallo issued pink slips to every teacher at the high school. The firings, which have gained national attention, were part of a federal improvement plan for one of Rhode Island's lowest performing schools.
Under the plan, no more than 50 percent of the staff could be rehired.
