PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Providence, Rhode Island, Salem, Mass. and San Antonio, Texas are among the cities with the best ghost tours in North America, according to a new ranking put out by TripAdvisor, one of the world's largest travel communities.

1. A Risky Ride: Hearse Ghost Tours, Savannah, Georgia
Exploring the creepy side of Savannah is especially bone-chilling when riding in a hearse (…sitting up). One TripAdvisor traveler said, “You ride in a real hearse that has carried 1000’s of dead bodies… it’s like a private tour.”

2. Macabre Market: Market Ghost Tour, Seattle, Washington
Go to Seattle’s Pike Place Market by day for gourmet food and a classic Seattle experience… then return at night to learn about its darker history. According to one TripAdvisor traveler, “Not only did I get goose bumps but I felt a certain boo factor myself at one of the locations!”

3. Spooky Salem: Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour, Salem, Massachusetts
You can’t swing a broomstick in Salem without hitting something that claims to be haunted—and Haunted Footsteps lets you see its truly eerie side. One TripAdvisor traveler wrote, “Given Salem's rich history, a ghost tour is a must and I definitely recommend this company!”

4. Seeking the Supernatural: The Alamo Ghost Hunt Tour, San Antonio, Texas
Hear the tales of ghosts currently haunting the city, and then try your hand at using real ghost hunting equipment on this thrilling tour. “Everyone in our group saw a ghost,” one TripAdvisor traveler boasted.

5. Phantom Footsteps: Les Promenades Fantomes (The Original Ghost Lantern Walking Tour), Quebec, Canada
Choose the French or English version of this tour, conducted by a guide dressed as a 17th century ghost. It’s “a great way to learn a bit about New France's more gruesome tales,” according to one TripAdvisor traveler.

6. Hair-Raising Honolulu: Oahu Ghost Tours, Honolulu, Hawaii
Everyone who goes to Hawaii takes pictures of gorgeous beaches and amazing sunsets. But for a different Hawaiian experience, travelers can try photographing glowing orbs while taking in the darker side of the island. One TripAdvisor traveler recommends it for people who “have an open mind, [are] willing to do a bit of walking in the dark and want to experience the spiritual side of Hawaii.”

7. Creepy Crawlers: Haunted Pub Crawl, Wilmington, North Carolina
This tour takes visitors to up to five of Wilmington’s most “actively haunted pubs,” where ghoulish stories of the past abound. “Not only did we get to hear a ton of creepy stories and legends, we learned a lot of very interesting history about the area,” said one TripAdvisor traveler.

8. What Haunts in Vegas, Stays in Vegas: Haunted Vegas Tour & Show, Las Vegas, Nevada
You can hear creepy stories and photograph orbs anywhere. But attending a séance in Liberace’s dressing room? Only in Vegas, and only on this tour. One TripAdvisor traveler wrote, “We slept in our hotel with the lights on that night, no joke, we were spooked!”

9. Sinister St. Augustine: GhoSt Augustine, St. Augustine, Florida
This tour company offers several different tours, from a haunted pub tour to a go-at-your-own-pace GPS-guided tour. “By the end of the evening, all were tipsy, an ‘orb’ had been photographed, and we had been to the lighthouse on a dark and rainy night,” said one TripAdvisor traveler.

10. Horrifying History: Providence Ghost Tour, Providence, Rhode Island
A spooky tour jam-packed with history, travelers walk away not only with the goosebumps, but with fascinating information about the city, as well. One TripAdvisor traveler called it, “an amazing way to learn about Providence's dark history in one spooky, story-filled evening.”
