PLYMOUTH, Mass (WPRI) - A local soldier from Plymouth, Massachusetts was killed in action in Afghanistan, military officials confirmed Wednesday.
Staff Sgt. Matthew Pucino, 34, was killed Monday by a roadside bomb. According to Army officials, the Special Forces National Guard soldier was conducting combat patrol in the area of Pashay Kala, Afghanistan.
Pucino grew up in Plymouth and was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth.
He is survived by his parents Albert and Kathryn Pucino of Orlando, Fla., and sisters Lisa Haglof of Sagamore, Mass. and Melissa Pucino, Plymouth, Mass.
