PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A league investigation of a fight on the soccer field has wrapped up, and punishments or other resolution could be decided in an executive session Monday afternoon.

The incident was captured on camera by Eyewitness News at the Division IV state championship soccer game Sunday, November 8th. Two girls from competing teams collided and punches were thrown, deteriorating into a pig-pile of a brawl that coaches and referees scrambled to break up.

The Rhode Island Interscholastic League's executive director Tom Mezzanotte has reviewed videotape from the incident and is making a presentation to the Principals' Committee on Athletics.

After decisions are made in today's session, the schools will be notified. The league says it will not disclose the names of any players who receive suspensions because of the fight.

The Woonsocket Villa Novans had a 5-0 lead over the Tolman Tigers when the fight broke out. Later, another fight broke out in the stands between fans of the opposing teams.
