PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island's budget officer has been named director of the Department of Administration and Department of Revenue.
Gov. Don Carcieri on Tuesday announced the appointment of Rosemary Booth Gallogly. She would replace Gary Sasse, who announced his retirement last week.
Gallogly has been the state's budget officer since 2001 and is responsible for advising the governor on state finances. Carcieri says she's brought common sense and transparency to the budgeting process.
The appointment, effective March 1, requires Senate confirmation. Thomas Mullaney, currently the deputy budget officer, has been named the acting budget officer.
