PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A Republican candidate for the Rhode Island 2010 Governor's race is voicing his support for Governor Carcieri's budget proposal.

John Robitaille is asking the General Assembly to pass The Governor's budget plan in order to help thousands of small businesses.

Robitaille says small businesses throughout the state are on the verge of bankruptcy and is urging lawmakers to avoid tax increases.

He also supports Carcieri's Jobs Growth Tax Credits plan that would offset some of the unemployment insurance cost incurred with future hires.

Robitaille also said he believes the government system has grown too large and is in favor of cities and towns cutting expenses, saying "We must strip the waste out of every state and local government operation, question everything government does, and ensure taxpayer dollars are being spent efficiently."

Currently John Robitaille is the only Republican candidate who has entered the 2010 Governor's race.
