PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The chairman of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority says he thinks more employees at the transit agency could lose their jobs over an incident in which someone covered security cameras in a room where bus fares are counted.
RIPTA chairman Scott Avedisian says the cameras were covered with clothing, but that there's no indication so far that any money was stolen.
Avedisian says the investigation is likely to increase in scope and that more workers are likely to leave over the incident. Three managers were fired on Tuesday.
RIPTA CEO Charles Odimgbe (oh-DIM'-way) said police have been notified.
The problems came to light during an accountability and performance review requested by Gov. Lincoln Chafee (CHAY'-fee).
RIPTA, which runs the state bus system, has a projected $8 million deficit.
