NORTH SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) - In an effort to learn more about anti-terrorism strategies, the head of the Rhode Island State Police is scheduled to travel to the Middle East later this month. Col. Brendan P. Doherty is scheduled to attend the National Counter-Terrorism Seminar (NCTS) in Israel from March 20 to 28.

According to state police, NCTS is an intensive training program conducted in cooperation with the Israel National Police. During his stay, Doherty is expected to gain first-hand knowledge of cutting-edge strategies and tactics, with special emphasis on suicide bombing, from Israel’s most experienced commanders.

Doherty was one of 17 law enforcement leaders nationwide selected to attend the training.

The Anti-Defamation League organized the seminar and is underwriting the costs of the program.
