RI DMV closing on Wednesdays

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) - A major computer upgrade at Rhode Island's motor vehicle registry means the offices are shutting down, every Wednesday until February.

Wednesday was chosen to close down the offices because it's the day that usually has the least number of transactions.

Each Wednesday, all the branches statewide will be closed, so all the employees can learn the new system in a big workshop. The new system is also expected to be more secure with your information.

They're also hoping to eventually offer more options to change your information online.
