PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch says his experience leading in the toughest of circumstances separates him from the pack as he runs for governor.
The Democrat oversaw the prosecution following a deadly 2003 nightclub fire that killed 100 people and injured twice that many.
He also won a verdict potentially worth billions of dollars against lead paint companies before losing on appeal.
Lynch tells The Associated Press his experience is what makes him stand out against his competitors in the race to succeed Republican Gov. Don Carcieri .
His opponents include Democratic General Treasurer Frank Caprio, independent former Sen.
Lincoln Chafee and Republican John Robitaille.
The Democratic primary is scheduled for Sept. 14.
