PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A Coventry teen accused of killing an acquaintance in Providence was ordered held without bail during his arraignment at Providence District Court Monday morning.

18-year-old Travis Garcia waived extradition from Connecticut Friday. He is charged with the murder of 32-year old Jeannine Garcia; the two are not related.

He's being held on charges of murder and sexual assault.

During the arraignment, Garcia said he was homeless. He's being represented by a public defender.

Police said Travis Garcia strangled Jeannine Garcia in her Cathedral Square Apartment Nov. 8. They said they discovered her body after Travis Garcia was arrested in Clinton, Connecticut. Police said he was driving Jeannine Garcia's car, which he crashed when police tried to pull him over for speeding.
