PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Officials at the Rhode Island Department of Health will brief Rhode Islanders at 2pm Wednesday on the status of the H1N1 virus in the ocean state.
Eyewitness news has learned that officials will urge parents to have their high school aged children vaccinated during the school clinics that are being held statewide. Officials say the teens are resisting the vaccine, and have seen just 60% of high school students get vaccinated.
The Department of Health will also address their plans for the vaccine once the school clinics have concluded.
The briefing comes just one day after it was announced two more Rhode Islanders have died from the H1N1 virus. We're told both victims were females between 40 and 50 years old. Both had underlying health conditions, and lived in Providence County.
