PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) - Fire has burned a family out of their home on Canonchet Drive in Portsmouth.
Town fire crews responded about 1:30 p.m. Friday, getting assistance from Tiverton's fire department. Crews on the scene said it started on the second floor of the home, in the attic area. The flames were knocked down relatively quickly.
One man, in his fifties, was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Fire crews also said the occupants of the home will not be staying there Friday night, though it's not clear how seriously the home was damaged.
