PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Another prominent figure in Rhode Island politics has thrown his hat into the ring in the 2010 race for Attorney General.
State Representative Peter Kilmartin, a retired Pawtucket Police Captain, prosecutor, and attorney, has a solid legal resume and nearly two decades of experience at the State House, but that political experience could be his downfall.
An exclusive Eyewitness News Poll released earlier this month shows most residents overwhelmingly placing blame on the General Assembly for the state's current budget crisis. Now voters could turn on anyone connected to Rhode Island's political structure.
Kilmartin's competition for the Attorney General's office currently includes Democrats Joseph Fernandez, Robert Rainville and Steven Archimbault. Republican Erik Wallin and Moderate Christopher Little are also running.
Kilmart sat down with Eyewitness News Reporter Tim White to discuss his campaign. You can catch the segment on this week's episode of Newsmakers right here on WPRI.com, under the On Air tab, or at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday (2/28) on WPRI or 10 a.m. on Fox Providence.
