Mass. (WPRI) – Time is up for candidates looking to join the special Massachusetts senate race.

Candidates interested in replacing Senator John Kerry had until five p.m. on Wednesday to submit the 10,000 signatures needed to land a position on the primary ballot.

Democrats Stephen Lynch and Edward Markey, as well as Republicans Gabriel Gomez, Michael Sullivan, and Daniel Winslow, are all expected to qualify for the race.

The primary election will take place on April 30th and the winners will face off in a special election on June 25th.
