PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Former Democratic candidate for Providence Mayor Steven Costantino throws support behind Angel Taveras.

"Angel Taveras recognizes the primary responsibilities of our next mayor are to put residents back to work and grow our economy," said Costantino. "It is imperative that all of us work together to solve the problems facing our city and make Providence great. I have offered my support and I urge the voters of Providence to give Angel Tavares their valued vote on Nov. 2."

Taveras defeated Costantino in the September primary with 48 percent of the vote.

Taveras will challenge Independent Jonathan Scott in November's general election.
