CONCORD, N.H. (WPRI) - Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is the heavy favorite to win in New Hampshire and he stopped by several polling places on Tuesday hoping to pad his lead.

Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Jon Huntsman spent the day trying to sway undecided voters across the state, in hopes of keeping the race closer than expected and building momentum for their campaigns.

Voters in Manchester tell Eyewitness News reporter Sean Daly, "We like being first. We like seeing the candidates in the flesh."

"To be able to meet the candidates face-to-face, shake their hands, ask them questions, and to really get a feel for who they are and what they are all about," said voter Debi Rapson.

"It's unlike any other place I've been. You get to meet the candidates up close and personal. There's a lot of information that you get from observing the candidates and how they interact with people - which you don't get any place else," said Scott Harris.

Front-runner Mitt Romney was out early shaking hands, hoping to make it two wins in a row. Newt Gingrich doesn't expect to win, but he is predicting that Romney won't do as well as expected.

Paul and Huntsman are counting on votes from Independents.
